Feminine Resurrection

Feminine Resurrection

Today we can see that the feminine spirit is needed more than ever. We can feel that the layers of violence, separation, destruction and mistreatment have reached a breaking point. The human shadow has made itself known, the darkness is upon us, and our lights are shining brighter. Women are coming back together to help heal our society.

In creating this immersion, we asked ourselves:

What if the splitting from the feminine never happened never happened in the modern, western world?

What if we could travel through time to the point in history and in our own lives where she was stripped and forgotten?

And then, would it be possible to re-weave the feminine spirit through time, as if she had never been forgotten, as if our mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers danced with this aliveness, this love, this knowing, all along?

We sat with that, and felt the energies, excited and ready to dance with us.

To set these energies free, it is now time to feel, to grieve, to cleanse, to dance, to sing and to come together as women and remember.

In this retreat we will engage with the various healing lineages shared by CC Treadway and Juliet Rabia Gentile', including the Essene/Magdalene teachings, Barbara Brennan Light School, Sufi practices and the Black Madonna Tradition from Southern Italy.

New Moon Sufi Whirling (Sema) Workshop

New Moon Sufi Whirling (Sema) Workshop

The Sufi poet Rumi originated the practice of Sema, also known as Sufi whirling, in 13th century Turkey. Sema means to listen to the sound of Divine Reality that is always calling us home. Sufism is a religion of Love, beyond all forms and creeds, and it's primary aim is to bring one into the presence of the beloved.

Through body-centered movement, breathing exercises, vocalizations and drumming, we will focus on awakening our spiritual heart, clearing energetic blockages in the body and becoming a channel of divine love. This moving meditation is not a way to tune out, but rather a practice to harmonize body, mind and heart to the inherent beauty and unity of the natural world, from the smallest atom to the stars.

These practices have been transmitted through a lineage of Sufi masters originating in 17th century Istanbul.

Join us for this special celebration, featuring the poetry of RUMI, mystical stories, Persian vocals, percussion, and whirling Semazens, as we celebrate life, love, and the coming of Spring.

Through his words sung in Persian as well as recited in new translations, we will hear about the experiences, joys, and challenges of his mystical journey, and delve with him into the sacred mystery of divine and human love. His inspiring words, the melodies, percussion, whirling, and group breathing and vocalization practices carried over fourteen centuries by Sufi mystics, like Rumi, Hafez, Rabia al Basra, and Khabir, will open our hearts, clear and focus our minds, and uplift our souls. Zikr: Sufi Prayer of Remembrance in Woodstock

The Sufi poet Mevlana Rumi begins his famous prose poem, The Masnavi, with these words:
Listen to the voice of the reed, as it tells its tale of separation. “Ever since I was parted from the reed-bed, man and woman have joined in my lament. Anyone apart from someone he loves understands what I say.”

In the spirit of Rumi we will practice Sema, or listening to the voice of the Divine, and Zikr, remembrance of our original source. Through body-centered movement, whirling and chanting, we will seek to become "one body, one breath," while keeping our inner gaze on our spiritual heart.

*These practices have been transmitted through a lineage of Halveti-Jerrahi sufi teachers known as a silsila, originating in 17th century Istanbul.
