The Seven Things: A Celebration of Renewal & Rebirth with Persian Music Ensemble

  • The Alchemist Kitchen 21 E 1st Street New York, NY (map)

Nowruz meaning ‘new day’ in Farsi or Persian New Year, is a week-long festival culminating on the Vernal equinox. Persian speaking people across the globe celebrate this festival with a traditional Haft Sin table, a colorful altar laid out in the home for good luck containing symbols of purification and renewal. These items include traditional springtime offerings like colored eggs, fresh wheatgrass, a mirror, a candle and some traditional Persian foods.

~The program will consist of readings from Seven Persian poets, including Hafez, Rumi and Saadi, as well as Persian Music Repertoire & Traditional Persian Dance~
